The Diocese of Bath and Wells has this account of Bishop Peter Maurice's welcome service in Wells on Saturday. I was so impressed with the singing of Youthful Spirit I hadn't picked up his line about enabling mission, which the press release quotes. We have a self-confessed mission enabler as Bishop. Praise God! Those of you outside the CofE are probably thinking 'duh? isn't that what leaders are supposed to be?', those of you inside it know that we're still learning.
The great thing is that because the CofE takes so long to change, if our Bishops really do see themselves as mission leaders and enablers, then they'll carry on seeing themselves that way for quite a while yet!
