'Christian' News Sites

On one level, there's no such thing as a 'Christian' news site, all news belongs to God, and happens in the world which Jesus loved and died for. On the other hand, there is a space in the market for reporting with a specifically Christian slant, and stuff that's likely to be more of interest to a Christian audience.

So here's a few links:

Christianity Today: a pretty good site, well laid out, mix of news and comment, and 'normal' news headlines as well as those of more interest to a Christian audience.

Religion News: American based blog with specifically religious stories. Far too many adverts. They have a real downer on Scientology at the moment, which is a good thing.

Premier News: from the Christian radio stations. Plenty here, but the presentation is a mess. There's an overall news link page which tells you virtually nothing about what's happened, then you click through to a page with about 100 stories, none of which are dated, in a mixture of audio and text formats.

At the other end of the scale is Ekklesia: If you only want a couple of 'comment' pieces per day, this is a good place to go, though you may not agree with them!!!

BBC Religion and Ethics News, which, obviously, doesn't have a faith standpoint, and has some useful filters on the site so you can sort for the stories you're interested in.

If you don't like any sort of religion at all, there's the National Secular Society, but watch out for the truth gap between their headlines and what the stories actually say. It's been a pretty easy week for them, though it's interesting that most of their stories today are about Islam. Clever, if you think about it.

And of course there's always The Sun if you want well informed comment on current events.

  1. Aye - yo can't beat the Current Bun for a balanced perspective on the issues!

  2. There's me thinking that the NSS write about nothing but religion.

OurKingdom is interesting this week on Sharia.

They've been doing guest postings while I've been saying "debate not BBQ".
