The most excellent Dave Walker has a new blog, Rough Diagrams. It even has some very natty T-shirts which you can order in time to make a Christmas gift. Not as much stuff up there as the remarkable Cartoon Church, but well worth a look.

The Dude Samaritan

From the excellent Cake or Death cartoon blog. I was sad to see that ASBO Jesus wasn't cartooning any more, but I guess once you've produced about 1000 of the things, a break is well deserved.

The Complaints Queue

It occurred to me during a talk I heard to day at (ironically) the Bishops Palace in Wells, that I do far too much moaning and not enough thanking. Early candidate for a Lent discipline this year is to spend 40 days being grateful, rather than adding to the complaints queue.

Or I may just settle for quitting alcohol, social media, cake and unhealthy snacks, and take up running on a daily basis. It'll probably be easier.

Light Relief

Long, long ago, in a Christendom far, far away, people like me had to rely on learned journals like the Winebibber for satire. Then came Ship of Fools, which, after what seems like decades, has kept its comic edge whilst at the same time feeding ideas to the mainstream: I know of at least one Diocese that now has trained Mystery Worshippers.

All the excitement at the weekend reminded me of this cartoon by Jon Birch. Personally speaking the Paralympics has been quite an education, one of the minor gems was the #isitokto hashtag from Channel 4's late night show The Last Leg, on what it's ok or not ok to do or say around disability.

In other local news, looks like we might be getting a KFC after all (woohoo!), and there's yet another round of public consultations coming up on the South Somerset Local Plan, before final approval. This starts next week, but this time the responses go to a national Planning Inspector, who makes the final decision on the plan before it can be formally adopted and put into action.

I have got to try this.....

in the meantime, we have a local drumming circle coming to tomorrows Cafe Service at the local community. It's a bit of an experiment, but after going to one of their workshops last year, there were so many spiritual images and verses whizzing through my head it seemed like a natural way to help people worship and express themselves. If I don't blog about it after Sunday, you'll know it bombed.....
